Hi, I’m Aamer

I’m passionate about understanding how animals behave and using that knowledge to create real, lasting conservation impact. My journey began in an unexpected place — with an engineering degree from the University of Mumbai — but my love for nature soon guided me toward a master’s in Wildlife Biology at A.V.C. College (Autonomous).

Today, my work focuses on red pandas in the Eastern Himalayas, where I study their behaviour both in the wild and in zoos to better understand their needs and inform effective conservation strategies. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with remarkable species such as tigers, leopards, elephants, swamp deer, blackbuck, hyenas, pangolins, and vultures. Each experience has deepened my appreciation for the complexity of wildlife and the value of science-driven conservation.

I’m particularly interested in animal behaviour, conservation physiology, and educational outreach — fields that connect people, science, and conservation. Outside of research, I enjoy writing Urdu poetry, cycling, and travelling to new places in search of stories, inspiration, and the quiet rhythms of life that remind me why I began this journey in the first place.
